Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)
We have nine employee-initiated and led inclusion networks that allow employees to create community around common bonds or similar backgrounds. These ERGs foster a positive work environment and important social connections at work. Many of our ERGs are also active in our local communities; engaging with students, patients, and collaborating with other life science companies and non-profit organizations.
BLEND’s mission is to promote Black and LatinX cultural awareness at Ionis. We focus on building a community of Black and LatinX members by which we aim to attract, develop, retain, and promote their advancement by fostering networking, professional development, mentoring, and leadership opportunities with a focus on the recruitment, retention, learning, and advancement of Latinx and Black employees at Ionis.
The focus of this group is to allow Ions to learn and engage in dialogue on topics around diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), and social justice. A key function of this ERG is to act as a focus group to help develop our DEI training series and other DEI initiatives.
empowHER is our employee resource group focused on increasing engagement and opportunities for women at Ionis to grow in leadership and in their careers. We are committed to drive increased representation of women across all levels of leadership, with the goal of preparing more women for senior leadership positions. Our vision is to create an inclusive community of women and men dedicated to the diversity and inclusion of our talent pool, enabling Ionis to unlock the full potential of its current and future workforce.
The Ionis NEXT group engages middle and high school students with diverse backgrounds and make them aware of the various life sciences career paths and opportunities. Employees are encouraged to join this ERG from both the science areas as well as G&A functions of the company. Students benefit by attending workshops, demonstrations and/or participating in a mentorship program with professionals in their area of interest.
The LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group serves to foster an inclusive, open community, advancing equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual, and allied people. We are LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies interested in LGBTQIA+ issues that impact the personal and professional lives of employees.
The Mental Health & Wellness Employee Resource Group is for people interested in Mental Health & Wellness issues that impact the personal and professional lives of Ionis employees. This group is an inclusive, open community that advances education, awareness, support, and activism for all employees concerned about Mental Health & Wellness within our community.
The New Employee Opportunity Network- “NEON ERG” has a mission to provide meaningful opportunities for new hires to network and connect with other employees and leaders across our global organization as we grow.
The Parent Network is an employee resource group for current and future parents at Ionis. We strive to create a community to support and celebrate each other during the many difficulties and joys of parenthood. Our vision is to help parents navigate a successful professional life; identifying their unique challenges and helping to find solutions.
The Veteran’s Employee Resource Group (VERG) has a mission to support Ionis veterans, their families, and active-duty family members.
